Day 29 - September 30th

We have basement walls!  They removed the forms today.

Basement and sub-basement:

These rocks are fascinating!

Now the concrete will be left to cure for quite a while, so it may be a few days before we have another update...  Keep checking back!

Today they finished setting up the forms and poured the basement walls.

Day 26 - September 27th

Today they started preparing for the concrete footings for the basement floor, which will be poured later this week:

The small rectangle in the center is our future storm shelter, which will be underneath the front porch.  The big rectangle at the back of the picture is the area underneath the garage, which will be filled with dirt eventually.

Day 23 - September 24th

Not much has changed over the last week, hence the reason for no updates until now.  This week involved letting the concrete cure and applying the waterproof protection.  On Friday, they pushed a large amount of dirt up against the sub-basement walls to prepare for pouring the basement floor and walls.  They also filled in the sub-basement with quite a bit of gravel.

Day 16 - September 17th

I caught them in action today, picking up the forms and loading them into the truck:

We have basement walls!  So exciting!

From the back.  The pink stuff represents where the basement floor and patio will be attached.

Day 15 - September 16th

Sub-basement foundation walls were poured today!

Picking up rocks... :)

Day 13 - September 14th

Not much change today, just continued preparation of the forms for pouring basement walls.  The pinkish-purple stuff in the middle is essentially what the framed basement floor will be attached to.

Day 12 - September 13th

Forms have been set up and you can see where the sub-basement and basement walls will be:

Day 9 - September 10th

They've started setting up the forms in preparation for pouring the basement walls.  Although hard to picture at this point, we will actually have a "sub-basement" underneath the basement.

This will be the view from the back of our house - a patch of trees with a park behind!

Day 8 - September 9th

Footings have been poured for the basement:
