Day 120 - December 30th

I apologize for the delay in updates!  Christmas has kept us busy, as well as our builder.  They are continuing with insulation throughout the house.  We are doing spray foam insulation (open cell).  Feel free to Google open cell vs. closed cell spray insulation if you are curious about the difference!

Here is the bathroom in the basement.  Notice the white stuff on the back wall.

Standing in the kitchen, looking towards the laundry room and garage.

The corner by the patio door and fireplace upstairs.  We are using batted insulation to provide a sound barrier between the living room and master bedroom.

The spare bedroom upstairs.

We now have a front porch!  The concrete was poured last week.

Day 113 - December 23rd

They have started adding insulation in the basement.  Here is the media room, notice the silver panels of insulation.

Here is the unfinished storage in the basement.  Again, notice the silver panels.

And here's bedroom #5, which will be left unfinished.

Day 109 - December 19th

A lot of the work being done lately is plumbing and electrical wiring, so there's not necessarily a lot that is picture worthy.  Nonetheless, here's a few updates.

Building the island in the kitchen.  This is the back that has been framed.

In the basement.  You can see a few of the can lights in the ceiling.

The west side of the house.  Notice the new vent and trim along the bottom of the siding.

The east side of the house.  More vents, plumbing, trim, and the electric meter.  (And a husband and daughter.)

The back of the house.

The basement patio.  Notice there is about 4 feet from the concrete to the door (the door is on the right above the blue line).  Stairs are in order!

Day 107 - December 17th

The roof now has vents and shingles!  It was a frosty morning...

We have a garage door now!

Updated view of the front.  Notice the front door and the garage door!

Day 100 - December 10th

The back patio has been poured!

And the floor of the storage room in the sub-basement!

Updated picture of the back.  Notice the trim has been added to the windows.

Day 99 - December 9th

The front is coming together!  More siding added over the last day.  You can better see where the stone will be placed.

We've been so focused on the outside for a while...  Now for a tour of the inside!

Standing in the kitchen, looking into the living room on the main floor.

Standing in the living room, looking into the kitchen and dining room.

Our master shower and bath tub (the shower will have a seat inside).

Looking at the office nook area in the basement (below the dining room).

Living room and patio doors in the basement.

Looking at the stairs on the left and our future "media closet" on the right.  The TV will be mounted on that angled wall.

Day 98 - December 8th

They are starting to put siding on the front of the house now.  We will have stacked stone across the bottom 3 feet of the front.  "Eyebrows" have been added to the garage.

Plumbing and ventilation are being added inside.  Here's the laundry room.

And the fireplace has been roughed in.  It will be a gas fireplace.  The opening at the top is for the TV.

Day 94 - December 4th

We now have stairs to get from the first floor to the basement!

Standing in the basement looking at the guest bedroom.  Notice we now have a patio door!

Trying to say warm.  It was particularly cold today!

View from the back.  We now have patio doors on both floors!

Day 93 - December 3rd

The roof is now covered with the black material prior that goes on sometime before shingles.

Day 92 - December 2nd

All areas of the roof have officially been covered!

They've started taking down the majority of the supports inside.  Here are a couple of views of the first floor.  The first picture I'm standing in the living room looking into the dining room/kitchen area.

And standing in the kitchen looking into the living room and bedrooms on the main floor.

Day 91 - December 1st

Progress was slowed a little over the last several days due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  The roof is coming along, as well as the framing around the front.

Here's a closer view of the east bedroom windows.  The corners of the roof near the top of the arched window are called "eye brows".  Over the far bedroom window, the eye brow extends all the way across.
